cant believe i'm always sick when my overseas trip is coming to an end
but thankfully i'm recovered speedily this time round
must be the cold weather

These 2 days
I have been exploring places near my house
I am so happy that there is a wetland park at where I am staying
This wetland park is one of the RAMSAR sites
where birds are sighted to visit en route their migratory paths
I was also happy that I got student ticket by showing them my International Student Card ;D






I didnt get to see the black-face spoonbills though
=(
The last time it was in the wetland was on 29 Nov 2010
They're not around for the whole of December!
Anyway
I kinda enjoy the trip
Although I was alone
I really like the place
The indoor interactive gallery is awesome





& on another day
I went for the Ping Shan heritage trail
I entered the old village & passed by ancient historical buildings left 700 years ago








Upon seeing all these houses
They reminded me of my village in China
>_<
Even the smell of it is exactly similar
Ahhh... kinda missed being back

There's just another week to be back in Singapore
& I'm so gonna explore most of the rarely visited places
so that I can bring DarDar here the next time we are back! ;D

I attended my first Christmas party on Tuesday!

It was really fun sharing the joy together
The food was nice

& the performance was great


Thanks Terence for being my secret Santa & got me a box of 3 hand creams
because he was concern with my dry hands from the excessive proteomics work
How thoughtful!


After the party
I went to Tsim Sha Tsui to look at the Christmas lightings to reminisce my childhood memories





Kinda disappointed actually
It wasnt that nice as it used to be 20 years ago!
That laser show was rubbish also
Waited for 30 mins to start but left 5 mins after it started
Boring
The lightings at East TST were nicer though

& the caffeine effect kicked in during my dinner
Making me unable to sleep NOW!

It is over

Whatever I have to do in Hong Kong had been done
I am so proud of myself that I am going to treat myself sushi tomorrow
Hahaha

Seriously
These 3 months of work was worrying because I never get to know if I would be able to complete
or that I would get good data & results
or that I could have screw up everything since I know nuts about molecular work

But after this experience
I am sooooooooooooooooooo proud of myself because I've learnt something new

Also not forgetting fellow SWIMS labmates for their support
I think this is really useful
& how I wish I can get that back in Singapore :\

In-promptu stay-in at SWIMS Day 2
It was a good sleep last night
Wasnt that cold until morning
Biological clock has been working very well
Get to wake up automatically at 730am
Before my alarm clock rings

Currently in the lab now
& it's so quiet that I expect someone to appear to keep me company
But my expectation had turned into slightly negative hallucination
& ok, i shall stop thinking about such things now

It's a nice morning
Sun's up
& wind's blowing gently
Unlike on Thursday when I really trembled while waiting for the train

Looking at the calendar
It's only 2 weeks left
Yet i've things not yet done still
Hopefully by the end of next Thursday
Everything is completed
& I will be on my way back home

my in-promptu decision to stay back in SWIMS over the weekend is going quite well
With almost all the students out in HKU campus enjoying the department's Xmas party
I will be hogging the 40" HD TV in SWIMS common room watching my TVB drama
HAHAHAHA

Today's work wasnt that bad
I hope I'm getting better results this time
& seriously working on my analysis

I'm having sooooooooooo much backlogs & i have no idea how to clear
While thinking I should be able to settle
Procrastination & laziness set in

OH COMON!!!

So tomorrow
I will try to complete 1 manuscript
& another on Sunday
& hopefully being able to send off to Prof on Monday for her vetting

This Xmas is busy
But I'm liking it

Just as I thought I've finished
I realised I needa re-do a part of it to re-confirm my data
Because this is qualitative work
It seriously depends much on the quality
As far as I'm closing one eye to analyse my data
I think the qualitative work affects quatitative work
So, I have to halt my analysis

& I am going to stay at SWIMS over the weekend
Cold weekend somemore

- another 2degC if you're next to the sea with strong winds blowing!!

It's gonna be 3degC tomorrow given the deciphered situation

I didnt expect this year's birthday celebration to be a happy one
Although I'm here in Hong Kong

I'm all so excited to return home
To be back with my DarDar & furry boys

My hands on experiments is almost finished
Really cant waiiiiiiiitttttttt
These just took me way toooooooooooooooooo long!
So I'm so anticipating to start my analysis soon
& because after analysis
It is totally completed

Done that, been there
& it will then be report-writing session
Which suckkkkkkkks to max because I hate to write report sooooooo much

Another reason why I cant wait is because
I'm going to KL & Bali!

I have been very busy seriously
Busy with my experiments
At some point of time
It was really pissing me off because it takes soooooooooooooo long to run one!
What's even more pissed off is that
I was being put aeroplane several times
Which caused a delay in running the experiment

So in the end
I devoted myself into it totally
& did it all by myself

I even decided to stay in SWIMS
Something which I'd never wanted to because of its seclusion
Well, actually
It isnt that bad afterall
Leaving the lab late at 10pm, sleep for as long as 8 hours, & reaching the lab early at 8am again
Beautiful morning scenery from the top (where the rooms are)

I was so naive to have rejected this idea
It was the food sources that disgust me
Because, there's simply no food!
I have to buy food in to eat
& frankly, I've been on high sodium diet for the past few days
Think my kidneys have been working too hard
& now, as of today
I'm desperate for veggies
I want greens!

Tonight will be my last night at SWIMS
This is gonna be 1) happy & 2) sad
1) happy because it means that my experiment is completed,other than having to repeat some others for qualitative confirmation
2) sad because I think I'd settled down in SWIMS

This trip back in HK is just so weird
Everything looks so familiar but at the same time, isolated
When I'm picking things up, I'm getting used to it
But when I've already gotten used to it, I have to learn new things
Hmmmmmmmm......
So probably, in the end, it is just memories rather than experience

Just another month
& I'll be home
I hope everything goes well & smooth
Cant ask for more, seriously
